Production

In order to meet demand from the market while at the same time retaining control over the organic quality of our fruit and vegetables, back in the early years of ProNatura we set up our own "sourcing" unit.

Agrumes de Marrakech

As ProNatura's first overseas site, our presence in Morocco enabled us to expand the production of oranges, tangerines and lemons from around twelve farms around Marrakech and Beni Mellal.

Enjoying excellent climatic conditions and growing practices close to those used in organic farming (with no chemical treatments and very little mechanisation, etc), thanks to the agricultural advice and monitoring provided by ProNatura Morocco, the fruit farmers were able to increase the surface area farmed organically, and now deliver more than 1000 tonnes of citrus fruit each year.

Throughout the season, ProNatura Morocco handles day-to-day dealings with the farmers, organising among other things:

  • the provision of agricultural advice and the training provided by an engineer specialising in the production of citrus fruits, who is involved in areas such as fertilisation,
  • plant health and pruning, site management during harvest (recruitment of seasonal staff, etc),
  • the transfer of the fruit to the packing stations, (with packing taking place in Marrakesh in a packing centre certified as organic by Ecocert)
  • the shipping of the containers from the ports of Casablanca and Agadir to ProNatura's marketing centres in Europe.

Organic farming is fair by its very nature
Currently present in France, Belgium, Morocco and West Africa, we are constantly seeking greater proximity to our partners (the farmers and distributors), thanks to the creation of new sites or new long-term sales agreements based on:

- Fair pay for the producer
- Fair prices for the consumer
- The economic viability of the project
- A long-term commitment.
