Producers of Roussillon

” In the Roussillon we grow peaches since more than 250 years on lands which are rich, fatty and loamy and interrupted by a few rocky areas. Between sea and mountain, the Roussillon is fully warmed up by the sun more than 300 days per year and also benefits from great water supplies thanks to the snowmelt, in particular that of the Canigou mount, which is under the snow more than the half of the year. The know-how of the peasants, coupled with this exceptional geographic position gives birth to fruits and vegetables of very high quality.”

A very sunny region, ideal for tree growing, in particular for the growing of summer fruits (peaches, nectarines, apricots, cherries) in the valley of the Têt, this land is also ideal for market gardening (salads, aubergines, cucumbers, tomatoes…) and early produces. It is in this direction that ProNatura accompanies its producers, stressing onto the respect of varietal diversity and crop rotations, both being essential for the lasting of organic farming.
