Organic Regions

Organic agriculture is, by nature, a long term activity. The required time for transforming “conventional” land into “organic” (three years minimum) is long.

It involves learning how to master its very precise agronomical techniques (renouncing to any synthetic chemicals), as well as to soften the production hazards (as phytosanitary treatments cannot be used when mildew attacks occur). Producing organic implies then long term commitments.

This observation has led ProNatura to the creation of diverse production chains, based on the farmers know how, in a common will of efficacy and giving value to organic agriculture.

ProNatura’s productions

60% of the fruits and vegetables traded by ProNatura come from productions created by them.

They are sources in which production ProNatura is deeply involved, through its technical assistance, financial commitment, its role as organiser, and, of course, the harvest commercialisation: fruits and vegetables from Provence, fruits and vegetables from Bretagne, citrus fruit from Marrakech, vegetables from Agadir, fruits and vegetables from Spain, pineapple from Togo and mango from Burkina Faso.

Big organic productions in France…

With more than 600 “direct” organic producers partners in France, we give priority to French and regional productions whenever this is possible.

Nowadays, we are present in 6 main organic production basins in France:

  • – In Cavaillon, for the fruits and vegetables from Provence, and from the South-East in general. Organic agriculture in Provence represents more than 15% of the region’s agriculture, it is one of the preferred regions for some crops.
  • – In Perpignan, for the fruits and vegetables from the South-West, particularly the stone fruits from Roussillon
  • – In Nantes, for the region’s fruits and vegetables
  • – In Plouha, for the horticultural productions in Bretagne
  • – In Reichstett, for the fruits and vegetables from Alsace and the East
  • – In Rungis, for Ile de France’s productions

… and around the world

When the French production is not enough for responding to the demand (always increasing in bio), we offer to our clients alternative products from our Spanish or Italian neighbours. We forge strong links with them, and we guarantee the compliance with the organic agriculture regulations and the quality of their products.

Citrus and exotic fruits need specific organic soils, and so cross European borders. Nowadays, ProNatura leads and supports three African specific productions in Morocco, Togo and Burkina Faso.
